When setting up a pick and place machine for a new PCB, initial trial placement unto the thin, transparent, double-sided adhesive foil, which was previously applied to the board, will allow optical inspection (automatic or manual) and, if necessary, correction before a printed circuit board is populated in earnest. After removing the foil without leaving any residue, components and PCB can be re used. The DIN A4 sheets can be cut to size and provide a clear view of the board below.
